What is the project about?

This project is a multifactorial study of relationships between people and liminal species living in cities by using corvids as a case-study. The project will map out the human-liminal species’ relationships based on strong biosemiotics aspects and behavioural or communicational influences. See more details about the project on ETIS.

A main outcome of the project is an updated knowledge of widespread problematic issues – nuisances, urban malfunction, loss of biodiversity – so that we can understand the mechanisms responsible for them and offer solutions for authorities, professionals and citizens.

This project explains the different aspects that hold sway in the relationships between humans and corvids – as well as other liminal species – in an environment still seen as belonging to humans with very little biodiversity. It will use various methods – data and textual analysis, field observations, interviews and surveys – to describe and analyse precisely this ecosystem.

Who are we?

The project is lead by French researcher and post-doctoral fellow Pauline Delahaye, under surpervision of Estonian professor and researcher Timo Maran.
