Paris, July 2022

Field observations from 12th July 2022 to 15th July 2022

The heat wave was particularly brutal this July in France. As everyone else, crows are suffering from the hot temperatures. Thankfully, in the botanical garden of National Museum of Natural History, they can find water as much as they need.

Crows are intelligent creatures, and they quickly understood how to use the watering system used by the gardeners is order to refresh themselves.

Being fully black, contrary to their estonian cousins, crows in Paris can overheat easily in plain sun. But as they are not afraid of humans, and as inhabitants never did any harm to them, they can enjoy resting in fresh grass, in the shades.

The younglings of this year (like this one who has no marking ring yet), are imitating the adults and are already quite confident near humans.

Adults are even bolder, and they are not afraid to beg for food very closely to tourists and inhabitants, juste to avoid doing to much effort during the heat wave.
