Field observations from 6th May 2022 to 18th May 2022

The nesting season is really starting in Tartu, and crows can be found more and more alone, as the partner remains inside the nest.

Usually, crows are not building nest from scratch, but fixing and reusing one from previous year. You can find many empty nest in the city, depending on the area where the crows prefer to be this year.

The cemetery of Raadi is a very popular spot for nesting!

If you are visiting the area, you could find new parents foraging for food to feed the partner hatching the eggs.

The botanical gardner is also very popular, but please be careful: stressed new parents can be aggressive in order to protect their younglings!
