Tartu, February 2023

Field observations from 17th February 2023 to 23rd February 2023

February has been strangely warm in Tartu, at in comparison of what February is expected to be, and with the return of the sun and longer daylight, snow is melting.

But melting here does not mean access to grass (or soil) again… It mainly means strong and solid ice everywhere. Crows are consequently not really able to feed on ground yet.

At the moment, they prefer to rest, coexisting in the trees between corvids species, waiting for better days.
