Tartu, March 2023

Field observations from 7th March 2023 to 13th March 2023

Contrary to February, March is much colder and snowier than last year. The snow is back in a quite consequent amount, and the food is again difficult to access for the crows.

The nesting season is then a bit late, and the different species are still cohabiting together, before splitting to raise their younglings.

They are also still very present on the roofs, whereas this space is usually used mainly by gulls and seagulls during nesting seasons.

But for the moment, the nests are still deserted. Every year, the pairs will rebuilt and repair the nests of the previous year, but there is no sign of this activity this month.
